Bambanti won Best Film at Festival International du Film de Bruxelles

Sinag Maynila entry Bambanti bagged the Best Film award at Festival International du Film de Brussels held on November 17-21, 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

This year, hollywood actor Holt McCallany is the chairman of the international jury.

Accepting the award is Sinag Maynila Festival Director Brillante Mendoza.

Bambanti is directed by Zig Dulay who currently participates to different international festivals.

Brillante Mendoza, QC Outstanding Citizen Awardee

Brillante Mendoza is one of Quezon City’s Most Outstanding Awardee given on October 19 at the Smart Araneta in Cubao, Quezon City.

The award was presented by QC Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte.

This year, 11 individuals and 5 organizations were selected by the Quezon City MANUEL L. QUEZON GAWAD PARANGAL SELECTION BOARD, chaired by former UP President Dr. Emerlinda Roman.

The Award, given annually on the occasion of Quezon City’s Foundation day, is the highest award of recognition.

Mendoza has given recognition for his great contribution as a filmmaker.

The past awardees include President Cory Aquino and Benigno Simeon Aquino III, three Chief Justices of the Supreme Court, including current Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno.

Last year was Quezon City’s Diamond Jubilee Year, and among the Jubilee Year Awardees was Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.

Taklub, Beirut Film Festival Best Feature Film

Taklub, by Brillante Mendoza is voted by the audience as Best Feature Film at the Beirut Film Festival.

The Beirut International Film Festival 15th Edition was held on October 7-15, 2015.

Beirut International Film Festival is Lebanon’s oldest and most prestigious film festival. The annual competition includes categories for feature films, short films and documentaries. Recent years have seen smaller and more intimate editions of the festival due to the uncertain political climate in the country.

Taklub is a story of three major characters – Bebeth, Larry and Erwin, whose lives intertwine after the Supertyphoon Haiyan caused the city of Tacloban to its horrendous state – leaving the breathing figures in search of their dead ones, of keeping their sanity intact, and protecting what little faith there may be.

At the NETPAC 25th Anniversary in Bangkok

It was a great crowd, at the screening of ‘Foster Child‘ today, at the FCCT, in the presence of Director, world-renowned film-maker Brillante Mendoza, as well as the much-respected Netpac President Dr Aruna Vasudev.

The occasion was the 25th Anniversary of NETPAC ( Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema).

The event attracted a large range of people: Ambassadors, diplomats, corporates and journalists.

Congratulations! Director Brillante Mendoza for another recognition award from FCCT

(Foreign Correspondent’s Club of Thailand) and Ministry of Tourism Thailand.

Vice Minister of Tourism, Assistant Professor Dr. Chavanee Tongroach, was the Chief Guest,who facilitated the two film guests, and gave them lovely souvenirs.

Brillante Mendoza gets achievement award in Russia

Brillante Mendoza received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award in the 25th International Film Festival “Message to Man” in St. Petersburg, Russia, where he headed the main competition jury.

Mendoza’s masterpieces Lola, Kinatay and Taklub were showcased in the festival. He was also invited to a Master Class at St. Petersburg State Institute of Film and Television.

The international competitive documentary, short and animated film festival was founded by the Council of Ministers of the USSR, Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the USSR, Goskino of the USSR, the USSR Union of Filmmakers, Gosteleradio of the USSR and the Executive Committee of Lensoviet, and supported by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Russian Federation, St. Petersburg City Government and Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg. Ninety films from 45 countries participated in this year’s nine-day festival, from Sept. 25 to Oct. 3.

Meanwhile, Taklub will grace four international film festivals this month, namely:

20th Busan International Film Festival, Window on Asian Cinema Section, Oct. 1 to 10 in Korea;

15th Beirut International Film Festival, Panorama Section, Oct. 7 to 15 in Lebanon;

59th London Film Festival by the British Film Institute, Debate Section, Oct. 7 to 18 in United Kingdom;

Brillante Mendoza receives the Outstanding Artistic Achievement Award from The International Film Festival “Message to Man

He serves as this years’ PresOutstanding Artistic Achievement Awardident of Jury. Message to Man is the only international documentary, short, animated and experimental film festival in Russia officially registered by FIAPF. It has more than 20 years’ history and it has always been a very significant event in the Russian cinema culture.

Every year the Festival presents over 30 Russian premieres. More than 200 films from around the world are screened in the competition and special programs. On average the festival receives about 3000 films for selection each year.

This year is the anniversary of the festival – Message to Man which was founded 25 years ago and for all this time this festival was showing the viewers only the best documentary, short, animated and experimental films.

Screening of his films includes Taklub, Lola and Kinatay.
