Brillante Mendoza, SGIFF head of Jury

Brillante Mendoza will be heading the jury of the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), which will be held on November 26 – December 6, 2015 at the Marina Bay Sands.

While TAKLUB will be screened on December 1 at 9.30pm, followed by Q&A afterwards. He will also give a Masterclass to share his experience with the young filmmakers from Southeast Asia.

The achievements he has made in his career and the insight into his journey as a filmmaker will be an inspiration to all.

Bambanti won Best Film at Festival International du Film de Bruxelles

Sinag Maynila entry Bambanti bagged the Best Film award at Festival International du Film de Brussels held on November 17-21, 2015 in Brussels, Belgium.

This year, hollywood actor Holt McCallany is the chairman of the international jury.

Accepting the award is Sinag Maynila Festival Director Brillante Mendoza.

Bambanti is directed by Zig Dulay who currently participates to different international festivals.

Brillante Mendoza delivers master class at Minsk Film Festival Listapad

Belarusian film fans have been given an opportunity today to attend a workshop by one of the best directors according to the Venice, Berlin and Cannes Film Festivals – Brillante Mendoza.

The Filipino director, cameraman, producer and actor began his spectacular career at the age of 45. With over ten feature films under his belt, a special place belongs to The Masseur, which has won the Grand Prix at the Locarno International Film Festival. His film Kinatay is the winner of Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Mendoza’s works has always been featured in Berlinale programmes.

At Minsk master class, the director told about the intricacies of shooting his new film Trap (Taklub). The movie reveals the story about 3 people, who were related to one tragedy, all of them lost their relatives after the typhoon, which destroyed the city of Tacloban.

Mendoza avowed, that he was happy to attend the festival and to share his movie and emotions with all the cinema lovers in Belarus. He admitted, that the main point he wanted to deliver was to inspire cinematographers, who don’t have enough resourses and finances to shoot a film, but still want to produce a good quality cinematography.

According to him – the director, idea and content of the movie should prevail over its form. Although, in case you have good financial resources, it is also important to think out the form.

At the Minsk International Film Festival – Listapad

After the successful Tokyo International Film Festival, the Directorate of Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” was honored to invite Director Brillante Mendoza to the 22nd Minsk International Film Festival held on November 6th-13th, 2015.

Being one of the most spectacular events in the cultural life of its country, Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” is held annually in the capital of the Republic of Belarus, a large film forum bringing together famous filmmakers, actors, cinema fans.

The Festival also provides an educational platform for communication between professionals of cinema. Varied workshops, discussions and exhibitions are held to give an opportunity to learn from masters of cinema and to discuss significant problems of cinematography’s development.

The main competition and the competition among young directors feature story films and documentaries. The Children’s and Youth Film Festival Listapadzik is held within the framework of the festival.

This year Director Brillante Mendoza will be giving a Master Class in Tsentralny cinema. The event is managed by program director Igor Soukmanov.

The 22nd Minsk International Film Festival “Listapad” will give a new impetus to establishing of closer relations and better understanding between nations and contribute to further strengthening of friendship and cultural collaboration of the two friendly countries.Brillante Mendoza at Minsk, Belarus
