Brillante Mendoza’s TAKLUB (2015) and ‘Thy Womb’ (2012) are among the 10 Filipino films selected to be showcased at the Asia Crosscut section of the 28th Tokyo International Film Festival.


 

The 10 Filipino films are:

Balut Country – Paul Sta. Ana (Sinag Maynila)

Kid Kulafu – Paul Soriano

Himala [Digitally Restored Version] – Ishmael Bernal

Taklub – Brillante Mendoza

Thy Womb – Brillante Mendoza

Serbis – Brillante Mendoza

Lola – Brillante Mendoza

Imbisibol – Lawrence Fajardo (Sinag Maynila)

The 28th TIFF will take place October 22-31, 2015 at Roppongi Hills, Shinjuku Wald 9, Shinjuku Piccadilly, TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku and other theaters in Tokyo.

Brillante Mendoza, together with Vladimir Posner serves as chairman for the critics jury at ‪Message To Man‬ International Film Festival, an international competitive documentary, short and animated film festival held annually in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Message to Man is the only international documentary, short, animated and experimental film festival in Russia officially registered by FIAPF. It has more than 20 years’ history and it has always been a very significant event in the Russian cinema culture.

Every year the Festival presents over 30 Russian premieres. More than 200 films from around the world are screened in the competition and special programs. On average the festival receives about 3000 films for selection each year.
This year is the anniversary of the festival – Message to Man which was founded 25 years ago and for all this time this festival was showing the viewers only the best documentary, short, animated and experimental films.

Head Jury – Message To Man‬ International Film Festival

Message To Man International Film Festival main competition jury will be headed by the Filipino director Brillante Mendoza, with Vladimir Posner serving as chairman for the critics jury.

90 films from 45 countries will screen in the programme which includes competition sections for feature films, documentaries and experimental cinema.

Message to Man is an international competitive documentary, short and animated film festival held annually in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Brillante Mendoza has been a head jury in festivals like Festival del film Locarno, Vesoul, and Singapore International Film Festival among others.
